CommentsThomas: What a great idea for a LAHS web site. You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work and I look forward to the completion of this project. Gloria Jean Cooper Adams, CLASS of 1961
CommentsThomas, I think this is great! Willie Waddell P.S.-remember me?
CommentsI am Mrs.Elaine Taylor Neal, Class of '47, living in Denver, Colorado. The website is great. I would like to know if these are Addison's colors. ....black and gold? When I went, they were blue and white. I think a more colorful presentation would be awesome. Keep on keeping on.....
CommentsThomas, Thanks for starting this website and keeping "our" alma mater alive! I will be sending this to all the members of my graduating class (1969) whose e-mail address I have. One of your former neighbors, Becky Hall and I keep in touch often and she has other e-mail addresses so hopefully this will help add to this site. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Sincerely, Dianne Morton Suydam 11432 Honeysuckle Court Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 (formerly lived on Patton Ave. NW) E-Mail: Suydamb@aol.com
CommentsTo Elaine Taylor Neal '47...Believe it or not, the color scheme that I used is, in fact, Blue and White (with Gold trim). My sister, Marilyn Dudley Lovejoy '65, insists that some of the athletic teams had yellow (not gold) trim on their uniforms. I think she may be right - I am contemplating changing the gold to yellow. When I visited the site from my office computer, I was surprised to see the background color appears to be black as you pointed out - not the blue background that I see on my home desktop where I design and maintain the website. I can't explain the discrepancy, but I'll investigate and correct the problem. We definitely want the color scheme to be as close to Addison Blue and White (with or without gold/yellow trim) as I can get on standard monitors. Thanks for the "catch". Thomas R. Dudley, Class of 1961
CommentsGreat job on the design and makeup of this website. However, you left out one of Roanoke's most prominent attorneys from the civil rights era. In fact, he used the U.S. Supreme Court Decision, Brown v. Board of Education to integrate the school systems in Southwest Virginia, including Roanoke and Farmville. If you have no clue, it was my dad. Take care, Reuben Lawson, Jr., Esquire
CommentsLet's try this again! Great Job! Even thinking of doing this is a great and long overdue idea. Michael A. Cooper Class Of 1970
CommentsTo Reuben Lawson: My purpose in creating this website was to provide a vessel for LAHS family members like yourself to recognize mentors and heroes the school produced. I will gladly recognize your father - please send a photograph and brief biography (class, law degrees, colleges, achievements, etc but be brief.). I don't doubt that he and many other graduates that I know little about belong there. That is precisely the point of the website. My role is to facilitate that information coming together in a meaningful way. To Michael A. Cooper: Two questions....(1) Are you the Michael Cooper from the 800 block of 7th Avenue NW and grandson of a Mrs. Turner? and (2) Were you principal of LAHS Magnet School? If yes to (2), please give me advice on where I can get copies of more LAHS (Old School) memorabilia/building history, etc. Can the city school administration provide? If so, whom do I contact? .....Thomas Dudley, Class of 1961 Editor E-mail: TRDudley@aol.com

CommentsFrom: Walter L. Wheaton '65 Rachel Henderson Wheaton '65 Hi Thomas! Thanks for all of your terriffic work in putting this great site together. You have done a great job. I notice that you have included a few of the pictures from my classmates.com page. I am glad you did, since I want as many people as possible to enjoy them. I have a few more: Class of '42, some '65 reunion photos, and a few other oldies. As for the picture of Saundra Curtis Eaves 4th birthday party, here are a few identities: low (your)left corner with ball Don Shovley striped shirt), next to him with the baloon is Frank Lynch; Saundra Curtis, the birthday girl is just left of the flowers on the table; Don Shovley's little brother(striped shirt) is standing just right of the table; standing on the hill to your right in the white sunsuit with the fade haircut/part cut in, is me Walter Wheaton. I can name others and will be glad to email you a better copy so that other people can enjoy them. Same goes for the other photos on my webshots.com album. I would also be interested in having our '65 yearbook set up on your page, as has been done with '61. Please write me at wlwheaton@msn.com Thanks again! Walter Wheaton '65 retired and happy to back in Roanoke again after 30 years!
CommentsIs there anyone out there from the class of 65 to send Tom our class pictures? Willie Waddell wwad199054@aol.com

CommentsOn a recent trip to Roanoke, I scanned portions of eleven Addison yearbooks. These included years 1948, 1949, 1950, 1953,1955,1957,1958,1959,1960,1964 and 1965. Together with year 1961 already published, I now have in hand yearbook images of 12 of the 45 total graduating classes. So far, I have captured all senior photos and a generous selection of team, band and club photos. Years 1948 and 1960 were published in the last two weeks; 1949 will go online in the next several days. Limited resources, i.e. web space and time, prevent me from reproducing more of each yearbook. My goal is not quantity but quality - capturing the "feel" and "flavor" of each graduating class and school year. I challenge fellow graduates to help me achieve those goals by completing the "story" of each such class with names and pictures of undocumented class presidents, valedictorians, salutatorians and Miss Addisons from 1929 through 1973. If you don't have photos, names would be appreciated - so long as you are certain of the information and not guessing or relying on faulty memories. I don't want to publish disinformation or offend fellow graduates with mistakes; I prefer to err on the side of caution. I am also soliciting photos and accurate biographies of Who's Who nominees. For example, I would treasure an old (or recent) photo and biography of former Ambassador Edward Dudley, who, I believe, was in the Class of 1929 and who died in New York last year. My attempts to contact his son, a New York lawyer, have been to no avail. Just last week Rod Claytor sent me a prized photograph of Addison graduate, Tuskegee Airman and Who's Who nominee Ralph V. Claytor. (HINT: Now if only one of the Claytors would provide Ralph's biography). I really shouldn't pick on the Claytors, though; they have been very strong supporters. THE GUANTLET HAS BEEN THROWN. Contact me at trdudley@aol.com if you would like to make a contribution. Thomas R. Dudley, Class of 1961
